janitor-ai.io is an editorial portal covering the Janitor AI platform, which is an adults-only service. This page explains our age requirements, why they exist, and how they apply.

You must be at least 18 years old — or the age of majority in your jurisdiction if it is higher — to access or use this site. The same requirement applies at the Janitor AI platform itself, where it is enforced by the platform's own policies.
Why we require it
The Janitor AI platform is a companion-chat and character roleplay product built for adults. NSFW mode on the platform requires additional identity verification. As a third-party portal that reviews and directs traffic to that platform, we mirror the 18+ requirement — restricting access to adults keeps the editorial coverage aligned with the audience that the underlying product is actually designed for.
18+ isn't a switch we toggle for particular pages. It's a floor for the entire site.
How we check age
When you first arrive on janitor-ai.io, you are shown a splash prompt asking you to confirm that you are 18 or older before entering. This self-confirmation is the first layer. Your response is remembered locally in your browser (via localStorage) so you don't see the prompt on every visit from the same browser.
The self-confirmation is the layer we control. Additional age-assurance measures — including ID verification for NSFW mode — are enforced at the Janitor AI platform itself, subject to the platform's own policies (introduced in late 2025) and applicable law in your jurisdiction.
Legal context
Age-assurance requirements for adult-oriented services differ by jurisdiction and continue to evolve. The Online Safety Act in the UK, various US state laws, and comparable regulations in the EU all impose different obligations. We aim to comply with the requirements that apply where you access this site, and the Janitor AI platform maintains its own compliance posture with respect to actual chat access.
